Jade Jewelry Worn by Our Customers

The photos below were shared by BMjade customers with their reviews, showing our bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings as they're worn in everyday light. Jade changes with lighting: warm light makes green and lavender look richer, while cool LED light makes blue-green look bluer. Soft window daylight shows color most accurately.

Burmese Jadeite Jewelry

Most of the collection is natural jadeite jewelry, and all of it is Burmese jade. Our founder, Hong, buys the rough himself at the Hpakant mines in northern Myanmar and has bought from all six of the main pits. The stone is then cut, carved and polished in our Kunming workshop, so we can tell you where each piece came from and what was done to it. Every piece of jadeite for sale here is Type A, which means the color and translucency are the stone's own. Here you'll find it in green, blue-green, lavender, white, black, yellow and red, from icy, see-through bangles to dense black carvings. New to the stone? Start with what jadeite is.

Hetian Nephrite Jade Jewelry

Our nephrite jade jewelry is Hetian material from Xinjiang. The NGTC certificate lists it as natural Hetian jade, but in China “Hetian jade” is the standard name for nephrite from any source, so the certificate confirms the stone and the Xinjiang origin comes from our sourcing. For thousands of years, Chinese jade jewelry and carving meant nephrite; Burmese jadeite reached China in quantity only in the 18th century. Nephrite has a soft, satiny luster rather than jadeite's glassy shine, and it is one of the toughest gem materials there is, so it suits everyday wear. You'll find it here in bead and clover bracelets, teardrop, Ping An Kou and clover pendants, cabochon rings, and drop and hoop earrings, mostly green with some white and a soft gray-purple.

Nearly every week someone sends us a photo of a creamy white jade Ping An Kou and asks if it's fake because it doesn't shine like their jadeite ring. It's nephrite, and it's real jade. Hong's answer is always the same: jade is the fruit, jadeite is the orange, and nephrite is another fruit, not a lesser one. Our nephrite jade guide covers the stone in full.

Choosing between the two? Most of our American customers pick jadeite for its color and translucency. People who choose nephrite nearly always want a piece they can wear every day without thinking about it, and at the same grade it is the better value. Our guide to jadeite vs nephrite sets the two side by side.

Jade Jewelry by Color

Green jade jewelry makes up most of the collection: bright and pale greens in jadeite, deeper and softer greens in nephrite. Our blue jadeite is a blue-green Burmese stone, close to what the trade calls qingshui, a light, even blue-green. It is not the bluer Guatemalan jadeite, which we don't sell. Lavender jade jewelry here, such as our lavender bangles, is jadeite, and it's what most sellers mean by purple jade jewelry. White jade jewelry includes icy jadeite bangles, jadeite beads and a white nephrite bead bracelet. Black jade is Burmese black jadeite, including mo cui, which looks black in normal light and glows deep green when a strong light shines through it. You'll see it in men's bracelets and pendants as well as women's earrings. Yellow and red jadeite get their color from iron near the rough's outer skin; you'll find our yellow jade jewelry and red jadeite in pieces such as our bead bracelets. For the symbolism behind the bluer shades, read what blue jade means.

Jade Jewelry for Women

Our women's jade jewelry runs from slim jadeite bangles and stud, drop and threader earrings to small pendants and stretch bead bracelets that stack easily. Western customers mostly choose pale icy white, light green and lavender, while Chinese-heritage customers lean toward a Ping An Kou pendant, a Guanyin or a solid bangle; the Guanyin order we get most often is a mother buying for her daughter. On sizes, most women in the US take a 56 to 58 mm bangle, and most of our adjustable rings fit US 6 to 12.

Jade Jewelry for Men

Our jade jewelry for men includes black and green jadeite Cuban link bracelets, a carved black jadeite bead bracelet, a black jadeite dragon bracelet, a carved blue-green jadeite dragon ring, a wide jadeite band, a black jade signet ring, and pendants such as a green jadeite dragon plaque and a black jadeite bar. Black is the color men choose most often from us. In China, the most common way for a man to wear jade is a pendant on a cord under the shirt, and most of our male customers in the US wear it the same way. Men's jade jewelry here comes in men's sizes: our stretch bead bracelets fit wrists up to 8.5 inches, most of our adjustable rings fit up to US 12, and men who buy a bangle usually take 60 to 62 mm, with larger sizes made to order. For bead and pendant sizes, meanings and how men wear each piece, see our guide Can Men Wear Jade?

Why Buy Jade Jewelry from BMjade

How to Buy Real Jade Jewelry Online

Buy real jade jewelry from a seller who tells you, piece by piece, which stone it is, whether it has been treated and where it came from, and who backs that up with a lab certificate you can check without them. As an online jade jewelry store, we can't hand you a piece across a counter, so all the jade jewelry for sale here comes with that paper trail. Our certificates come from NGTC, China's National Gemstone Testing Center, a government-backed lab rather than a private company. Each one carries a number you can look up on the lab's own site; here's how to check an NGTC certificate. Type A tells you the stone hasn't been bleached, filled with polymer or dyed; it doesn't grade the stone, which comes down to color, translucency and texture. Before you order, you can also ask for a video of the exact piece. Already own jade? Here's how to tell if jade is real at home, and what each home test can and can't prove.

Why Buy Authentic Jade Jewelry from BMjade

We've worked with jade in Kunming, in China's Yunnan province, since 2016, and we cut, carve and finish our pieces there. Every piece is checked in the workshop before it's listed: the stone under strong light for cracks, then the carving and polish, then the bail, setting or clasp that holds it. Bangles also get a tap test: hung on a thread and tapped lightly with an agate rod, a sound bangle rings clear, while a dull note sends it back under the light to look for a hidden crack. If you're weighing a piece from another seller, send us photos and we'll tell you what we see, free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions About Jade Jewelry

What is real jade jewelry?

Real jade jewelry is made from jadeite or nephrite, the only two stones that count as jade. Dyed quartzite, serpentine, glass and resin are sold as jade every day, and none of them is. The second question is treatment: bleached, polymer-filled or dyed jadeite is still jadeite, but it is worth far less. Everything we sell is Type A jadeite or natural, undyed Hetian nephrite. For the full picture, see jade, jadeite and nephrite explained.

Which piece of jade jewelry should I buy first?

A pendant or a stretch bead bracelet. Our stretch bracelets fit wrists from 6.5 to 8.5 inches, and a pendant fits anyone, so nothing depends on an exact measurement. Solid bangles and fixed-size rings are lovely, but they need a precise size; save them for a second purchase, or ask us to help you measure. The same advice holds when you're shopping for a man: most men start with a pendant worn under the shirt or a bead bracelet.

Is BMjade jade certified, and can I check it myself?

Yes. Each piece comes with an identification certificate from NGTC, and earrings get one certificate per pair. It states the material and whether it has been treated, and its number and security code can be checked on ngtc.com.cn before you buy or years later. We don't certify our own pieces. NGTC doesn't print origin on jadeite reports, so we state the origin on each product page.

How much does jade jewelry cost at BMjade?

Most pieces cost about $190 to $400. Solid jadeite bangles run about $1,800 to $5,500, because a bangle has to be cut from a large block of rough without cracks. Color, translucency, texture and size move the price far more than weight does. Our guide to how jade is priced explains the rest.

Can I wear jade jewelry every day?

Yes. Both jades are tough, which is why people have worn them daily for thousands of years. Take jewelry off for the gym, swimming, showering, housework and anything that could knock it against stone or metal, and put it on after perfume and hairspray. Our pieces leave the workshop with a thin polishing wax. On pieces that touch the skin it wears off within six months to a year of daily wear; that's normal and doesn't need redoing.

Can I see the exact piece before I buy?

Yes. Photos flatten translucency, so email jadeworldchina@outlook.com with the product name and we'll send more angles, a backlit photo or a short video of that exact piece. For a bangle, that includes the inside under a flashlight.

Is jade jewelry a good gift?

It's one of the most personal gifts you can give, because the meaning comes with it: carvings stand for protection, good luck or a long life together. If you can't measure the person, choose a pendant or a stretch bead bracelet. Every order ships in a gift box made for keeping jade, with no price slip in the parcel, so we can send it straight to them. For which piece suits which occasion, see our guide to what giving jade means.
