About BMjade — Authentic Jade Jewelry, Crafted from Myanmar to Yunnan
BMjade was founded in 2016 by Hong, a jade specialist based in Kunming, Yunnan — the capital of China's most established jade craftsmanship region. What began as a small workshop sourcing carefully selected Burmese jadeite has grown into a brand serving customers in over 30 countries, with one consistent promise: every jadeite piece is Type A certified, every nephrite piece is certified as natural untreated nephrite, and every piece is crafted by hand in Yunnan. No mass production. No treated material. No exceptions.
Our Beginning — Why Hong Started BMjade
In 2016, Hong was working between Myanmar's jade markets and Yunnan's carving workshops — the two ends of the world's finest jadeite supply chain. What he saw frustrated him: an international market increasingly flooded with Type B (acid-bleached and resin-injected) and Type C (dyed) jade being sold to overseas buyers who had no way to tell the difference. Even worse, many sellers refused to provide independent certification — leaving customers to take it on faith.
Hong started BMjade with one straightforward goal: bring authentic, NGTC-certified Type A jade jewelry directly to international customers, with documentation they can verify themselves. No middlemen, no marketing tricks, no untraceable claims.
Today, nine years later, that founding principle is still the only rule we follow. Every BMjade piece ships with a verifiable independent gemological certificate. Jadeite pieces are certified as natural Type A jadeite; nephrite pieces are certified as natural, untreated nephrite. The product page states the material and certificate type for each item. And every piece is crafted by hand in our Yunnan workshop — the same place where jade has been carved continuously for over 600 years.
From Myanmar to Yunnan — Our Supply Chain Story
Most jade jewelry sold online has no traceable origin. Ours has two specific places — and both matter.
Step 1: Rough Selection — Myanmar for Jadeite, Xinjiang for Nephrite
We work in both jades, and each comes from the region that produces it best.
Jadeite comes from Hpakant in northern Myanmar, the source of the world's finest jadeite for over 800 years. Hong personally travels to Myanmar's jade markets multiple times each year, working with established mining contacts.
Nephrite comes from Xinjiang — Hetian jade from the northern slopes of the Kunlun Mountains, the material Chinese courts prized for millennia and the reason "jade" meant nephrite in China long before jadeite ever arrived.
Whichever material it is, rough is selected on the same signs:
- Surface skin signs that indicate internal quality
- Visible color traces showing potential flow within the stone
- Structural integrity to avoid hidden fractures
- Translucency hints through the stone's natural windows
Not every promising rough stone makes it back to Yunnan. Sometimes we walk away with nothing for the day. We'd rather buy less than buy poorly.
Step 2: Stone Evaluation and Windowing
Once back in our workshop, every piece of rough is examined under controlled lighting. For uncertain stones, we open a small window — a precise polished section — to verify the internal color, texture, and translucency before committing the full stone to production. This step prevents the costly mistake of carving a beautiful exterior over a flawed interior.
Step 3: Hand-Carving in Kunming, Yunnan
Yunnan has been the heart of Chinese jade craftsmanship for over six centuries. Our workshop in Kunming follows the traditional approach: the design serves the stone, not the other way around. Each piece — bracelet, pendant, earring stud, or ring cabochon — is shaped according to that specific stone's color, internal structure, and natural character. Generic templates don't apply when no two stones are alike.
Step 4: NGTC Certification
Before any piece is listed in our store, it's sent to the National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC) — Asia's most respected gemological lab — for independent verification. Each piece returns with a certificate bearing a unique serial number. We don't certify our own work. The certificate, the number, and the lifetime authenticity guarantee follow each piece into your hands.
Wondering how NGTC compares to Western labs like GIA? We wrote a full breakdown: NGTC vs GIA — which lab is the authority on jade.
Our Authenticity Standards — Type A Only, NGTC Verified, Lifetime Guaranteed
In a market where "natural jade" can mean almost anything, we hold ourselves to three unbreakable standards.
1. Type A Only
For jadeite, that means Type A: natural, untreated stone that has only been polished — no acid bleaching, no resin injection, no dye. We do not stock Type B or Type C jadeite at any price point.
For nephrite, the Type A/B/C system does not apply — that classification belongs to jadeite alone. Our nephrite is described the way the material is actually graded: natural and untreated, with its colour, texture and origin stated. The treatments that do occur in nephrite, dyeing and wax coating, are exactly what our certificates rule out.
We do not stock Type B (chemically treated) or Type C (dyed) material at any price point.
2. NGTC Certification Included With Every Order
Every piece ships with an official NGTC report carrying a unique serial number. The National Gemstone Testing Center is the most widely recognized gemological authority in Asia. The certificate is your verification document — you can confirm the serial number through NGTC's online verification system at any time, even years after purchase.
3. Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee
If an accredited gemological laboratory confirms that a BMjade item is not the jade material stated on its product page, or that an item sold as Type A jadeite has been treated, we will refund the purchase price paid for the affected item and reimburse reasonable documented laboratory testing fees and approved tracked return-shipping costs. This authenticity guarantee has no time limit and is subject to the verification requirements in our Refund Policy.

Exhibitions & Industry Presence
We don't only sell online. Each year BMjade shows its collection in person at Yunnan's jade trade events, where professional buyers can hold a penlight to our bangles and check every certificate themselves.
In July 2026, at the invitation of the organizers, we exhibited at the 20th China Kunming International Stone Expo (booth 8032) — Yunnan's largest jade fair, with over 2,000 booths at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center. Over our three busiest days we welcomed more than a hundred buyers, ran our flashlight translucency demo on request, and sold ten of our classic green jade bangles in a single day. The full story, photos included, is on our journal.
