A pair of large oval cabochons in gray-purple nephrite jade, 17.5 mm long, each set in a plain gold-plated bezel with a hinged latch back that closes behind the lobe. The color is quiet: soft gray in the shade, turning faintly violet in daylight. The high, smooth dome is left uncarved so the stone shows from edge to edge, and the latch holds each earring flat and secure all day.
