The pixiu is held by prongs, not glue. On a carved animal that means each claw has to be placed on a contour the carver already left — a shoulder, a haunch — without covering detail. Glue is the usual shortcut in jade rings, and it yellows.

Jadeite — natural Type A from Burma (Myanmar). Type A means untreated: no acid bleaching, no polymer or resin filling, no dye.
Nephrite — natural and untreated from Xinjiang, China. Nephrite has no Type A/B/C system — that classification applies to jadeite only — so it is graded on texture, lustre, colour evenness and purity.
